Springtime in the Sonoran Desert brings out lots of critters. 1st Response Wildlife, from April - June, receives lots of calls about activity in attics, sheds, under manufactured homes, porches, and in businesses-often related to mothers with young that are creating a nuisance. Earlier in the year, however, a predominance of calls are related to adult animals which are out foraging for food, looking for nesting material, or checking out places to create a new den. Pregnant female animals are often the source of noises in the attic, missing dog or cat food from a patio or back porch, or new entry points in a building. Male members of species such as raccoon, rock squirrels, bobcats, skunks, or fox, more often than not are just foraging for food after a winter nap.
This past week, a report was received of a disturbance that was total destruction of a set of new flowers in pots on a patio down in Green Valley. Investigation by the home owner resulted in actually viewing a large male raccoon that was quickly identified as the source of the problem. Initial attempts at capturing and discouraging the raccoon to find somewhere else to forage, were unsuccessful. 1st Response Wildlife was called and, this large male raccoon was safely captured and relocated 35+ miles away in new desert surroundings, complete with a water source and plenty of room to roam. Needless to say, the homeowner will probably not ever receive a visit from this fellow again, and the flowers, destroyed by this large male raccoon, now replaced, will grace their patio once again!
If you hear noises or see destruction in and around your home or business, please consider giving 1st Response Wildlife a call to help identify, capture, relocate, and help you keep nuisance animals or reptiles from returning.
Thanks for considering 1st Response Wildlife
